Getting the most out of BrightSign® players

BrightSign® makes the most dependable signage hardware in the business, and then deliberately leaves the software choice to you. These guides cover the three decisions that follow: which CMS, which model, and how to get a card booting.

BrightSign® players ship without a CMS on purpose. The company builds solid-state signage appliances and leaves content management to a large ecosystem of software partners, which is why a new BrightSign® owner's first question is almost always "so what do I actually drive these with?"

These guides answer that, and the two questions either side of it. They're written to be useful to any BrightSign® owner, including one who never buys XiPlay. Where we have a stake in the answer, we say so plainly.

Where XiPlay fits

Running Xibo® CMS on BrightSign® hardware

Our own stake, stated plainly: Xibo® is a widely used signage CMS, but Xibo Signage Ltd. doesn't publish a BrightSign® player. XiPlay is that player: it speaks Xibo®'s XMDS protocol, so BrightSign® hardware registers in your existing Xibo® CMS as a normal display. If you already run Xibo®, that's the shortest path onto BrightSign® hardware. Read the full Xibo® + BrightSign® guide →
