Supported BrightSign® models
XiPlay runs on BrightSign® solid-state players. Capability scales with the model tier.
- XT series, the flagship: 4K, HDMI-In, genlock video walls.
- XD series: 4K playback and interactivity.
- HD series: full-HD workhorse for everyday signage.
- LS series: entry-level looping and basic scheduling.
Video walls & sync groups
Build multi-screen video walls with frame-accurate sync groups. Each screen in the wall needs its own license; a frozen or expired follower keeps looping its cached layout, so the wall degrades gracefully rather than going black.
Frame-accurate synchronization is a BrightSign® hardware capability with specific requirements. For a reliable sync group, all players in the wall must meet the following:
- Same model family. Every player in a sync group must be from the same BrightSign® family (e.g. HD with HD, XT with XT). You cannot sync across families (e.g. an HD player with an XD player).
- Wired Ethernet on the same LAN. Players synchronize over Ethernet (two units can be cabled directly; larger walls need LAN infrastructure). One player leads and the rest follow, with clocks aligned over PTP.
- Same BrightSignOS version on every player (or a leader running the same-or-older OS than its followers).
- Matching video: identical resolution and frame rate on each screen, fixed-rate (CBR) encoding, and bitrate within BrightSign® limits (H.264 ≤ 25 Mbps, H.265/HEVC ≤ 80 Mbps). Synchronized media must be identical in length.
- Genlock / V-sync for the tightest frame-locking, available on higher-end models (e.g. the XT series).
Multi-output players (several screens from one box)
Some BrightSign® players have more than one HDMI output. On those models, XiPlay drives each output as its own independent display: each registers separately with your Xibo® CMS and pulls its own layouts, schedule and orientation. A single multi-output player can drive up to four independent screens, depending on the model.
- Each output is a separate Xibo® display: different content and schedule per screen, not a mirror.
- Orientation (portrait / landscape) is set per output, driven from your Xibo® CMS.
- Each active output is licensed like a standalone player, one license per output.
- This is independent multi-screen output, distinct from a video wall, where several screens show one synchronized image.
HDMI-In & HLS live streams
Bring a live source onto the screen via HDMI-In (on supported models), or play native HLS live streams as part of a layout, useful for live TV, event feeds and broadcast.
Remote screen / volume / reboot
Control the hardware itself from your CMS: screen on/off, volume, timezone, orientation and reboot, across all your players, with no truck rolls.
